While the historic deposit hosted in a gabbro intrusion has been known to geologists, the discovery of additional ultramafic rock with sufficient sulphur saturation expands the potential for finding more substantial magmatic deposits. Further exploration at the Mal Lake site, located approximately ten kilometers southeast of Gochager Lake, revealed similar geochemical signals, suggesting a common source for the mineralization.
